RRCI provides information and referral to anyone in
the community needing to find specific programs and
services.
Nursing Home Transition
Do you want to get out of a nursing home? Do you want to avoid going
into one? We may be able to help. |
Peer Support |
| An individual who has experienced barriers in living
independently with a disability to overcome similar
barriers, for example: |
- Making adjustments to a newly aquired disability
|
- Experiencing changes in living arrangements
|
- Learning to use community services better
|
- Communications and problem solving
|
Independent Living Skills Training |
| RRCI provides training for people with disabilities
to enhance or develop skills that can assure independent
living opportunities, courses may include: |

- Communication Accomodations
|
- Other Topics Upon Request

Advocacy |
| The Center provides two kinds of advocacy: |
- Individual Advocacy, which involves the Center working with an
individual to access services from other agencies.
|
- Systems Advocacy, which involves the Center initiating changes
making it easier for people with disabilities to live independently.
|
The
Elder Blind Program |
| The goal of the Senior Blind Program is to
help consumers be independent. |
| The program offers support group meetings,
activities, and training to achieve the goal of
independence. Support group meetings provide
opportunities to the consumer to be kept informed of the
most current information regarding the latest treatments
available, the most updated information about eye
diseases, and peer support. Training is available at the
Center for many consumers and the option to attend the
blind center for additional training is encourages.
Activities are sponsored by IL for social interaction and
community integration. |
Assistive
Technology |
| Equipment is purchased for individuals
with disabilities to increase their independence at home and out in
the community. Assistive Technology
is a paid service and individuals need to meet a financial eligibility
criteria for Assistive Technology pain services.
Technology includes a wide range of equipment and devices
which could be from an emergency communication device to a
van lift system meeting the specific needs the individual may
have which will increase their independence. The individual
will have to go through an evaluation process to determine
what equipment will meet their needs and then through the authorization
and purchasing process when funding is available.

Loan Bank
The
Center has a loan bank of equipment that has been donated. Any individual
with a disability can utilize this equipment if it meets their specific
need and if the equipment is available. The individual will need to apply
for Independant Living services but there is no fee to use the equipment. |
